The Lotus and Emergence of Spring

Awakening
The emergence of Spring sees us walking out from the darkness, softened by the delicate pink blossom of the prunus tree, that embodies this gentle, yet warrior-like awakening. This time however, there is a sense of something deep in the Earth etherically supporting, that is not quite ready to bloom ...
The lotus, unfurling up from the muck. With it’s humble roots planted firmly in the swamps. This bold, beautiful lotus eventually rises above its native murky waters in Summer, to bloom into a stunning flower. The lotus gives a powerful teaching of endurance, of facing challenges in life while remaining pure, untainted by negativity ... a symbol from the natural world that emerges refreshed from the depths
“In the Lotus Sutra, Buddha says to light up one corner – not the whole world. Just make it clear where you are.”
— Shunryu Suzuki

Perhaps like me you feel not yet fully ready to bloom this Spring. That there is something deep still processing underground. See then, these tiny prunus blossoms as the first indicator of awakening, before your beautiful strong lotus is ready to unfurl when the time is right ...
